CHALLENGE 206:
WE NEED SOME THINGS

YOU PLEDGED FOR IT.
NOW HELP US DESIGN IT.

The COMMUNITY DECK will feature over 100 additional THINGS prompts, created and selected by this community, to use in BINGO and SAM SAYS.

And to make sure we’ve got a great set of THINGS, we need at least 250 players to take their best shot at coming up with new THINGS we can include.

Now, coming up with new THINGS sounds easy, right?

Not as easy as you think. We don’t want random suggestions or the first words you think of. We're looking for meaningful responses. Thoughtful. Intentional.

To make sure that you only submit your best ideas, each player can submit NO MORE THAN 5 THINGS.

To help you focus your submissions, we’ve got a few tips from Joshua Balvin, the veteran game designer who co-designed Game Changer: Home Edition with Sam:

1. Focus on “real world” things that most people recognize; avoid “niche” references. In order for the game to be fun, every THINGS prompt should be something that most players have a realistic chance of guessing with a timer running.

2. Think about how you would get someone to guess your words quickly. If you can’t figure out clues that you could use to help an intelligent stranger figure out the word, it probably isn’t a good fit. Avoid words that are too generic or have lots of synonyms.

For the full “game designer” experience, try testing your ideas on a friend. See if you can get them to guess each word in under 20 seconds without using inside jokes.

3. Avoid Game Changer references, inside jokes, and callbacks. We love a good callback as much as the next player, but we’d like this game to be fun for all of your friends, not just the ones who subscribe to Dropout. Please don’t suggest the Wenis.

That’s everything you’ll need for this challenge, players.
